Location: Macclesfield

We are seeking a skilled Hands and Eyes Data Centre Engineer to join our team.

Providing day to day data centre support, the DC Engineer will ensure the completion of activities, requirements and deliverables as prescribed by the Regional Service Delivery Manager. The DC Engineer will have a logical and process driven mindset to achieving service deliverables. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the data centre environment with proven experience in fibre and copper patching and cabling support.

The successful candidate will be required to provide on call cover on a one in three week basis. An additional on call allowance will be paid.

Must live within a 1 hour commute of Macclesfield and have own vehicle.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven General Data Centre Support Experience, having worked in a data centre environment.
  • Experience of updating customer application (Service Now).
  • Proficient in Office 365.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure, responding to incidents efficiently using approved procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical reboots of devices.
  • Check for hardware alarms and console error messages.
  • Maintain hardware inventory and complete hardware installs.
  • Assist in investigating and resolving physical network failures and hardware issues.
  • Load tape or CD media into devices to precede a recovery of a server.
  • Complete tasks to the standard specified by the client.
  • Scheduling & receipting deliveries into site.
  • Accurate & regular stocktaking of on-site stock.
  • Supporting the UK Customer Support Manager in the production of project installation documentation (Risk & Method Statements, pre-installation & post installation sign off documentation).

Qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSE Grade C/4 or above
  • Formal training in fibre splicing and testing, City & Guilds is desirable but not essential.
  • Formal training in copper structured cabling, City & Guilds is desirable but not essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £36-38,000 per annum
